HOW IT STARTED
After majoring in Business with a minor in marketing at the University of Arizona while on a full athletic scholarship as a quarterback, I discovered the transformative power of storytelling. After two years, I transferred to a Division II HBCU in Missouri, where I completed my football career and earned a degree in Business Administration.
Upon graduating, I returned to Los Angeles, my hometown, to embark on my journey into Hollywood. I gained invaluable experience in production, working as a location manager for Paramount Pictures and Time Warner’s Latino network, NUVO TV, which produced the inaugural Latino Comedy Festival. During this period, I had the privilege of managing some of the industry’s rising comic talents, including Felipe Esparza and Gabriel Iglesias. My career path led me to writer Rick Najera, who offered me a producing position at LATV, the first bilingual network to go national. There, I collaborated with top celebrities like B Real from Cypress Hill, Kat Von D, Mr. Cartoon, and Estevan Oriol, producing content for weekly shows.
Recognizing the rise of technology and the impact of YouTube, I saw the potential for content distribution and, in 2009, launched my own multimedia company focusing exclusively on online video.
Thus, EG Entertainment was born. Since its inception, EG Entertainment has partnered with some of the world’s leading brands, delivering dynamic and engaging video campaigns that have reached over 1 billion people worldwide. We were pioneers in the influencer space, helping L’Oréal Paris collaborate with YouTuber Kandee Johnson, long before "influencer" became a buzzword.
I also developed the first Latino-themed mobile game application, “La Chancla,” which made headlines and achieved over 1 million installs in its first week.
My mission is to reshape the Mexican American narrative and foster a deeper understanding of the Mexican American and Latino experience in the United States.
